Last year, I wrote out a list of books we’ve read aloud as a family. Guess it’s time to update for posterity. Here are the books I can remember that we read together as a family over the last year…
Winnie the Pooh (again – it’s part of the k-12 curriculum)
Little Lord Fauntleroy
Trial By Poison (Trailblazer book about Mary Slessor)
Corrie Ten Boom (CEF story)
On the Banks of Plum Creek
Fair Weather, by Richard Peck
Peanut Butter and Jelly Secrets (from the Alex series – I’m having a hard time finding those! Interlibrary loan is the only way to get them. The kids enjoyed it, though. I need to order a few more. After Odyssey.)
Junie B. Jones – Jingle Bells, (over Christmas break)
That takes us to today. We are currently in the middle of the Odyssey Series. Right now, we’re reading The King’s Quest, sixth book of twelve in the set.
I was so excited to find CBD was selling them again after years of checking! We were getting them interlibrary loan, but that’s hard to do with a series – you can only order three at a time, weeks of waiting in between, limited time to have each book & over Christmas break, that can cause problems, etc. They are sold four books to a volume for twelve bucks – not bad – so we got them for Christmas. The new editions don’t have the drawings or chapter titles the old ones did, but everything else is the same. Paul McCusker is so good at writing quality Christian materials for kids!
Winter’s a great time to snuggle down together with a a good book. What are you & your littles reading together right now?
