“Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.” – Matthew 10:29
One of our kitties “passed on” last night. It was the only female in the bunch & Callie’s furry little friend. All of us are sad tonight – we waited until after dinner to break the news to the kids. Thankfully, we can cuddle the three cats God gave us, one being Beauty’s kitten, Rascal. In honor of the sweet little creature who brought a lot of joy to our family this last year & a half…
A Kitty for Jesus
By Rudyard Kipling
(Adapted for Sleeping Beauty, aka “Beauty”)
I wish someone had given Jesus a cat.
As loyal and loving as mine.
To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
And adore Him for being divine.
As our Lord grew to manhood His sweet little kitty,
Would have followed Him all through the day.
While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.
It is sad to remember that Christ went away.
To face death alone and apart.
With no tender cat following close behind,
To comfort its Master’s Heart.
And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn,
How happy He would have been,
As His cat licked His hand and purred it’s delight,
For The One who died for all men.
Well, the Lord has a kitty now, I just sent Him mine,
The little pal so dear to me.
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone,
Knowing they’re in eternity.
Day after day, the whole day through,
Wherever in play I inclined,
Four feet said, “Wait, I’m coming with you!”
And pranced along behind.
PS – This week has been posts mostly about Callie. Each of the boys will be featured in coming weeks.
