If you haven’t heard this, you gotta listen. This is Ronald Reagan in 1961 talking about socialized medicine; as relevant today as ever!

I hesitated linking this because I heard it a day late & figured it was “old news”. Come to find out, only 33,000 have heard even part one on youtube so far (two days after) and so I link. This so needs to reverberate through the airwaves of this great nation. There are ten parts and every one of them well worth taking the time to hear. If you have the time, please listen to all ten.

Listen to part two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten here.

1. My country,’ tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrims’ pride,
from every mountainside let freedom ring!

2. My native country, thee,
land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
thy woods and templed hills;
my heart with rapture thrills, like that above.

3. Let music swell the breeze,
and ring from all the trees sweet freedom’s song;
let mortal tongues awake;
let all that breathe partake;
let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.

4. Our fathers’ God, to thee,
author of liberty, to thee we sing;
long may our land be bright
with freedom’s holy light;
protect us by thy might, great God, our King.

The change America voted in sure is coming fast & furious. Check out these two articles Keith showed me this afternoon…
Hate crimes bill – Due to be rushed through by the end of the week.
Answer cost her the crown? – One thing I know, it wasn’t her looks that kept her from it.

If things keep on, pastors could be imprisoned within months for preaching on Romans 1. It’s hard for me to believe this bill could really pass, but then again, I never thought America would vote in a socialist who bows to a Saudi king & has all “religious symbols” removed from a school’s wall before he speaks. It was the letters IHS for crying out loud! I don’t think Gorbachev would’ve done that. Maybe Stalin. Is that where we are now? Amazing. Just amazing.

red_envelope

I guess that Red Envelope Campaign is ongoing. Here’s the facebook version (original?). The email I got sounded like it was going to be a one day thing, but any day will do. If you haven’t sent any in yet, keep ‘em coming. It’s not too late to participate.

PS – My offer for free red envelopes still stands for those that live close. I have about 25 envelopes left. We sent out one to represent each member of our family last month & may again every month until they reach the 50 million goal. Or I run out of my envelope stash, whichever comes first.

red_envelope

Have you seen this idea? I’m participating & thought you might want to as well…

Get a red envelope. (For those of you who live close, I got a bunch on the cheap a few years back I’ll be glad to pass on, just let me know.)

On the front, address it to:

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington , D.C. 20500

On the back, write the following message:———

“This envelope represents one child who died in abortion. It is empty because
that life was unable to offer anything to the world. Responsibility begins with
conception.”

Put it in the mail on Feb 28th. Then forward this email to every one of your friends who you think would send one too. I wish we could send 50 million red envelopes, one for every child who died before having a a chance to live. Maybe it will change the heart of the president.

Do not attack or say anything mean to President Obama. I may not have voted for him and I may not like his policies, but he is still the President of the United States of America and this is not the place for hate speech.

Thanks, Aunt Connie, for passing this on to us!

These don’t really have anything to do with one another, they’re just three quotes that have caught my eyes/ears recently & have been on my mind, so I post them…

“The middle way that some in this chamber (Congress) have been seeking is no way at all. If we finally fail in this great & glorious contest, it will be by bewildering ourselves in groping for the middle way!”
- John Adams -
I don’t know the date on this one. It just struck me in the John Adams movie so much I had to write it down verbatim. We did get to see the whole thing, BTW. Excellent!!! There is a scene or two in it, though, so don’t watch it with the children the first time.

“Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, these countries are tiny! Compared to the Soviet Union. They don’t pose a serious threat to us. Iran… they spend 1/100th of what we spend on military. If Iran ever tried to pose a serious threat to us, they wouldn’t stand a chance.”

“We can see God in exceptional things, but it requires the growth of spiritual discipline to see God in every detail. Never believe that the so-called random events of life are anything less than God’s appointed order…
Beware of being obsessed with consistency to your own convictions instead of being devoted to God. If you are a saint & say, ‘I will never do this or that,’ in all probability this will be exactly what God will require of you… (Love that!! So true!)
The important consistency in a saint is not to principle but to the divine life.”

My Utmost For His Highest, November 14th

Go Barbara!!!

I don’t “do” halloween, but I thought this would be good to pass along in the spirit of spooky frights.

WARNING: extremely scary material!!

Did you hear Dr. Dobson’s interview with Gov. Palin? If not, listen here.

And a few 30 second spots worth checking out if you haven’t seen them…

Special thanks to Barbara for the heads up.
